As you're starting to think about packing for your upcoming trip, consider adding some of the following items if you don't have them already. These are a few of our favorite things to pack, and I hope they help you as you get out your suitcase and start getting excited!

General Travel Items:

I have many of these myself! Many older hotels and cruise ships don't have nearly enough outlets, so something that gives you more of them AND includes USB ones is a great idea to bring with you.

I admit to being a bit of a sleep diva, so I love to bring a sleep mask and ear plugs or a sound machine when I travel.

If your phone doesn't easily hold a charge all day and you use it to take photos like I do, an extra power bank is super helpful. You plug it in to charge it, then bring it with you and plug it into your phone on-the-go once your phone battery is low, and it will charge your phone.

I like the reusable straws because many cruise lines and resorts have moved toward paper straws in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. I love the environment too, but those paper straws are just awful. So a reusable one is a great alternative!

*Important Note: Royal Caribbean has now banned the use of multi-plus outlet extenders, so some of the below items will not be allowed on their ships (marked with an *). They only allow one-plug adapters with multiple USB slots. You can likely find one-plug alternatives for the voltage converter and adapter items on Amazon as well though.

** Walkie Talkies are also starting to be banned... be sure to check your cruise line website for their banned/prohibited items!

I also recently tried and LOVED this travel pillow/sleep mask combo. For red-eye flights, this thing is amazing. It latches to the headrest and then the sleep mask both keeps your head in place so it doesn't bobble around AND keeps the light out (my husband had to wake me even though they'd already turned on the lights to serve breakfast). I've always hated the U-shaped pillows and am so very glad I found this. I love it!

Travel With Kids

We've taken both of my sons on cruises when they were under a year old. An inflatable bathtub was very helpful when it came to trying to bathe them in the stand-up shower! The beach tent is a nice way to grab more shade than an umbrella (and if you're luckier than I am, your baby will actually sleep in it too).

Now that my kids are getting a bit older, it's all about keeping them entertained, so travel games are important. I also like to pack playing cards because there are lots of games you can play with them but they take up very little packing space. For kids that are old enough to be wandering around the ship a bit on their own, but you still want to be able to keep in touch with them (and they don't have a phone), walkie-talkies are admittedly old-school, but can also be pretty helpful..
